How to Design a Wedding Dress

How to Design a Wedding Dress

Designing a wedding dress is easier than you think. Follow these easy steps to achieve your dream dress and save money at the same time.
Steps Read lots of magazines and search the internet to get a feel for the styles and colours that appeal to you most. Think practically too if your getting married in the snow or on a beach you may want to choose something practical. Visit wedding shows and get a look at what the dresses look like on other people. Go and try on as many different dresses you can. Try some that you wouldn't normally consider too. It is amazing how different the dresses look on. First try to decide on a cut empire, fish tail etc. Try and find a style that shows off your assets. You may be surprised at what looks good. Pay attention to the fabric. Move around in the dress see how it reflects in the light and how the fabric moves. Try and get near to some natural light too. Play around with tiaras and veils too as this will be part of the overall design and it will give you a better idea. Ask in the shop if they have any shoes you can try on too. It's amazing what a difference a few inches can make. Now you have a better idea about what want have another look in the magazines.
Think about combining ideas from different dresses. Start sketching some ideas down. If you're really bad at drawing trace around a dress of a similar shape from a magazine and then just add the detail you desire. Try and visualise the dress in your mind first. Think about the fabric and textures. Play around with variations this is your brain storming there is no right or wrong. When you have a couple that you think are ok your ready to move to the next stage. Approach 2 or 3 dress makers and talk through your ideas. Get them to talk about and show you fabrics and bead options. Make sure you get to view samples of their work. They should have a portfolio. This will affect the price. make sure you get a writen quote that shows exactly what materials are included and the cost per hour for the labour. The other option is to get a dress customised you can order one that will be tailored to your idea or buy one of the peg and then have it altered. The later is the cheapest option. Customise your dress. First select a couple of dresses that are closest to your design. Ask the shop about colour options and if you can change thebeading. If this isn't possible for the dress you chosen ask if there are any dresses it is possible for. Don't forget to get a price. If you want to radically customise a dress by changing the shape adding panels, beading etc then buying off the peg is a good option. The shop should be able to recommend a dress maker. Get a consultation, show them your designs and try on the dress so they can see what they are working with. They may have some suggestions too. Get them to quote you and say if the materials are included. You may want to get the material yourself or ask the dress maker to do it for you. Make sure that you get a couple of fittings leading up to the wedding to achieve the perfect fit. Take photos of the dress before you customise it and during the process so you don't forget what it looks like.Article resource:http://www.iloveonsale.com/Wholesale-2011-wedding-dresses_c2794
